Shots,Tags, and Weaning

Today was a bit of an ugly one here. After separating Ella and Tisa from their Mom at night this past week, today they did not get to join Vinegar at all.
The carrying on all day gave them laryngitis. Then it was past due for the April kids' CDT shots, so that got checked off the list. All the kids then needed to visit Mom for a bit of comfort, but not before watching the other two get their shot.

Zuri and Zahra nursed away their pain. Then the older twins needed to get tagged to leave the farm.
These are the required scrapie tags.While they were yelling, might as well give them one more thing to yell about, but the pain was quick, and they are all set to move to their new home.

Ella and Tisa have one more day to get all grown up.

Greener Pastures

As hoped, we moved the shed for the nanny goat herd, to a new, closer field, and brought in one of the Electronets to continue training the newest kids to all the fences. At first we just brought in Layla, with Zahra and Zuri, and Trinity, with Ziggy, to explore the shed, and see if they tested the new fences again. The kids had a fine time checking all the play options of the shed. The moms abandoned them for all the new, terrific, fresh grasses and rose bushes to munch. Today was a double whammy: high tensile fences, AND, the rest of the herd. We had a small buffet for the big reunion, which was devoured quickly. Then the families broke off to discover the fresh salad bar of offerings in the field, and were not disappointed.


The kids were kids, and found the play area, where they quickly showed off their skills.Naturally, Tisa and Ella, the now "big" twins, had to check out the play area too, but did not give the new kids any grief. They also were more interested in checking out lunch. Or is that hiding in their lunch? Even the nanny crowd couldn't stop talking with their mouths full, they were so impressed.

Three Z Circus

Well eat my shorts! OK! I will!The older girls took over the new "toy" first. Zahra was getting her dismount down. Ziggy finally noticed the fun, and is up for the challenge.

I may be small,... ...but I'm tough!

Zahra, Zuri and Ziggy have completed basic fence training today, and should be joining the adult herd and the other kids this week-end. The twins are three weeks old on Monday, and Ziggy will be two weeks old on Sunday. They are such a playful trio, now that they are all strong and have springs for legs. A few more weeks, and they will jumping on the spools like their older cousins. Today they were all showing their funny personalities and curiosity. They can make a bad day great!

Getting Out

While maid service was in the room, Layla took the kids for a stroll outside.

I found them on the barn ramp just posing for the camera.

They are such a regal looking family. I just love Layla's look, and her personality is equally lovely.

Layla decided that a little part time work cleaning the barn ramp was OK as long as she could bring the kids.

Zahra and Zuri do a good job of staying nearby and practicing their acrobatics.

Mia got a little too close, and Layla gave her a warning.

Ziggy (I'm trying that on for size) likes getting close too. At two days old, he's hopping around and exploring.

The chickens are getting used to all these curious kids around.

Trinity is settling into motherhood, but is still a little uncomfortable on one side for nursing. She's a bit of a worrier too, but is always there for some milk and a nuzzle.
