Sunshine and Shadow

As you can see, I can't get out of my own shadow's way. And so the shadow pictures started.

No gloves. No hat.
Okay, a hoodie and vest, but the sun is out and the sky is blue, and I can see my shadow.

Absence Of Light/Memory of Color

Its been eight or nine days since the sun shone here, and Sandy left us in a severe, gray gloom for half of it.
I found a gorgeous collection of photos I took while Ligonier was preparing for Fort Ligonier Days last month.
Here are a few bits of blue sky and Fall color to raise some East Coast spirits.

This Side Of Fall

Fall is moving slowly into our woods and fields.
A few trees are yellow tipped, and one or two are showing some lovely orange, but we have yet to see an eye popping landscape.
In the background, you can see a bit of color, and the chickens add some Fall color too.
Mia just wants to get in on the act.
I have a small supply of pumpkins and gourds to decorate in and around the house, even though I feel certain we will loose the pumpkins to a hungry animal (called deer).
I am "feeding" them one at a time so that we can stretch the enjoyment as much as possible.
Nature is adding its muted color too, adding to the "antiqueness" of the farm.
I hope you are taking in the beauty of the season while it lasts.

October Sunset

Today's sunset sky went from gray, to orange, to blue about as fast as I took these photos.
Its easy to miss these moments.
I hope you saw this too, or enjoy my view.
Good night!

Miltonian Stonehenge

These poles in the middle of the beach were a couple days of camera play for me. I saw them as my own beach style Stonehenge.
In the background you can see another house that will surely have the same fate as this one soon enough.
On day two, I asked for a little cooperation from the family to use these poles in a photo shoot.
  Following instructions,...

...and patience was required.
OK. Set the timer.

Under Construction

I can't wait to do this next year.

Mt. Washington Hotel, Bretton Woods, NH

I hope these pictures say "elegance", "relaxed", "beautiful" to you, because that is what this place said to me.
Enjoy!

Delicious Summer Day

After all the storms, tornadoes, floods, locusts.
Okay - I'm getting carried away.
But today is a lovely, dry, blue skied, perfect day.
The goats are rotating into new field, and the chewing is loud.
Speckles is rounding out, as is her udder.  We don't have a due date, so it will be a surprise, but I think soon. She is looks very healthy, and I have no worries about her kidding in the field.

Julia and I took the goats out and then admired Adeline and her buckling that Julia named Bruno.
We got my camera out and both worked on our photography. That is one of the categories Julia may enter at the Westmoreland Fair this summer.
At least you get to see the farmer once in a while!
Bruno has filled out and put on the pounds, and does a great job keeping up with the herd as a two week old.
Isn't he handsome?
