National Aviary, Pittsburgh

What's everyone looking at? Why its the bird that perhaps best represents this holiday week-end.
The American Bald Eagle.

This sleeping beauty...
...and its friend were just looking for some quiet.
And this fellow got to be the star of our tour.
See the video below for more.
We had a unique birthday party today at the National Aviary in Pittsburgh, PA. We are about 1 1/2 hours outside Pittsburgh, so we don't get into the city a lot, but this was a fun one. After a guided tour by Dave, we had a lunch where we had more time to see the birds up close. There was also interesting lunchtime conversation about how often the birds all poop, eat, and injure the trainers. Not at all unlike conversations at the farm. All in all, a trip you want to take. And a different way to celebrate a birthday. VIDEO OF THE PENGUINS IN THEIR POOL ON THE TOUR

What a wonderful trip. Lots of great images and the lunch conversation is similar to the "poop reports" we give each other throughout each day about our two Labs such as: "She pooped, he didn't."

Great post! It looks like a must-see place.

Happy Fourth,
Lois

Loved your pics. Prior to re-locating to Florida, our godson's grandparents lived in Pittsburgh. Great place!

The Russian situation here turned into a real mess, tour director and hotel manager had to lay down the law. This is one story I could do without. However, Italy itself is fabulous, a real dream.

thanks, Deere. Love that expression...wrote it down...much truth to it!! One of the Germans exploded tonite after all French fries were taken...we're the only Americans and keep poker faces; but seeing old European wounds crack open is verrry interesting. Anyway, I love adventure and this is turning into a real one...romance and adventure, a nice combo!
