Making Mud

Enough rain already. Enough!I hate to head out the door these mornings because the footing is getting slicker, the buck is a wimp and won't go out when it rains, and its plain old wet and miserable! Who needs it?OK. That's out of my system, but its all true. We have all sorts of makeshift paths and "bridges" because its so hard to walk and the goats will downright refuse to cross the water or mud.We are not just saturated, ...we are flowing. At least the chickens are having fun digging for worms.
Jock hates the part where we're done and he has to head for the showers. Sorry Jock! But if you want to come inside...

Great images of what farming is all about!

I remember putting wood planks down (some still being used to get to the compost bins) to get to the rabbit hutch to feed daughter's pet rabbit when it was raining. I would feed Hazel while leaving for work wearing a business suit and heels. Yeah, right, a walk in the mud.... :\ And, in case you wonder why I was feeding her rabbit, she had grown up and gone to college so I inherited the sweet, beautiful bunny. ;)

Jock is a cutie. When raining, our dogs stick their heads through the doggie door, then pull them in and look at me and ask, "You expect me to go out in that?" That doesn't mean they don't like their twice-weekly swim at a friend's pond in the country, though. Then it's bath time :)

You said it! I'm ready for a long dry spell myself.
