Watchtower at Desert View, Grand Canyon

After seeing so many images of the Watchtower, I was so excited to finally get to climb it.
The views outside, and from the inside were the first thing we saw in the park, and I could have gone home happy right there.
This was still unexpected though - snow drifts and ice.

All three (or four) interior levels were open, but the roof was under repair.

I have never seen this. Will be sure to check it out on our next Grand Canyon visit.

This is a good time of year - cooler weather, fewer people.

COLD weather and surprising number of people! The hotels were quite booked and parking still an issue. Luckily, Mom has a handicapped pass, but even so, there is ample walking and some of her tour was from the car window!
